What we collect

When you create an account: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password itself, only a one-way hash of it).

At signup: your handicap, gender, and home club. We ask for these to help shape future features (like suggesting your home club, or defaulting to the right tees). The app doesn't do anything with them yet. Gender can always be answered "prefer not to say."

When you use the app: the golf courses you add, and the hole-by-hole scores and dates you log against them.

We don't collect payment details. The Ultimate Round is free and doesn't ask for any.

Why we collect it

To run your account (log you in, show you your own courses and scores) and to calculate your ultimate round. The profile fields above are stored for potential future features and aren't used for anything today. We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.

Marketing emails

If you tick the box at signup, we may occasionally email you with updates about The Ultimate Round. This is entirely optional, off by default, and you can ask us to stop at any time using the contact details below. This is separate from the one-off email we send to confirm your address when you sign up, which isn't optional: it's how we verify the account is really yours.

Spam protection (reCAPTCHA)

Our signup form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block automated spam accounts. This sends some technical data about your browser to Google as part of verifying you're not a bot, see Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle that.

Cookies

We use one essential session cookie to keep you logged in. It's necessary for the site to work and isn't used for tracking or advertising.

We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (which pages get visited, roughly how many people use it), never for advertising, and never sold on. This only runs if you accept the cookie banner; declining, or just not answering, means it stays off. You can change your choice any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Third parties

When you search for a course, the search term you type (a club name or postcode) is sent to two services to find it: a UK postcode lookup (postcodes.io) and a golf course data API (via RapidAPI). Neither receives your name, email, or account details, only the search text itself.

Our hosting provider and database run the infrastructure the site is built on, and can access data as needed to keep it running, but don't use it for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. If you'd like your account and all associated data deleted, contact us (below) and we'll remove it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you can ask to see the data we hold on you, have it corrected, have it deleted, or receive a copy of it. Contact us using the details below for any of these.
