The Ultimate Round started as a question I couldn't stop thinking about after a round at my own club: I'd birdied the 4th, but three-putted the 7th I usually play well. A few weeks later it was the other way round. Every hole, at some point, I'd played close to my best, just never all on the same day.
So I built a way to track it. Log your score hole by hole, every time you play, and The Ultimate Round quietly remembers your best-ever result on each one. Add those together and you get your ultimate round, the score hiding inside all your rounds so far, and a number you can watch get lower over seasons, not just single outings.
What it isn't
It isn't a GPS rangefinder, a shot tracker, or a handicap calculator. There are already excellent apps for that (GolfShot and iGolf among them), and The Ultimate Round is happy to sit alongside whichever one you already use. It does one thing: it remembers your best hole-by-hole scores at a course and totals them up. Handicap tracking is deliberately left to the trackers built for it.
It's also currently UK-only. Course search is built on a UK golf course database, so courses outside the UK won't turn up in a search (you're welcome to add one manually, though).
Free, and staying that way
The Ultimate Round is free to use. There's no premium tier hiding the features that make it useful, and no plan to add one for the core idea: log your scores, see your ultimate round.
